Today, the 1957 Chevrolet is known as the ultimate "Classic Chevy". As a matter of fact, the 1957 Bel Air is among the most recognizable American cars of all time! All one has to do is mention "57" around a bunch of old car guys and everyone will immediately identify these two numbers with the 1957 Chevrolet.
This fine and rare example is a freshly restored, extremely well optioned, 2-owner Bel Air Sport Coupe that is very close to its factory original condition. It was built in the Van Nuys (Los Angeles) assembly plant and spent the majority of its life in the "dry" Southwestern desert area of the US.
Details:
• Exterior: The restoration began with a practically perfect body that had all original sheet metal and absolutely no rust or accident repairs. The car was media blasted to bare metal and then finished in the original colors of Corona Cream with an India Ivory top. The body panels appear straight with uniform gaps and fitting as they did when the car the car was new. NEW chrome bumpers, stainless trim, window glass, seals, rubbers and felts.
• Interior: Features NEW Yellow Vinyl w/Black and Yellow Pattern Cloth upholstery, headliner, carpet, door panels, headliner, door handles, dash trim; NEW Retro Series AM/FM radio, antenna and speaker that looks identical to the original units and a NEW quartz clock. Options include power windows (all switches and motors have been refurbished) power steering and original Treadle-vac power brakes.
• Engine and Driveline: The engine has been completely rebuilt to factory stock specs. 283 cu. in., 185 HP@4600 rpm, 2bl carburetor. The original Powerglide transmission was changed out for an updated TH350. It has the correct side mount conversion kit and correct gear position indicator on the dash. NEW brakes linings and drums, brake lines, brake wheel cylinders, and all suspension bushings with a front stabilizer bar added for handling. A NEW aluminized dual exhaust system was added with Magna Flow mufflers for a very nice and mellow exhaust note. This Bel Air runs and drives beautifully without any handling issues, odd noises or fluid leaks.
• Wheels & Tires: 5 NEW and correct Coker wide whitewall tires, stock steel factory 14 inch wheels; the jack and spare have been restored.
