1972 AMC Javelin data, information, pictures, VIN ID, technical and performance info

1972 brought little changes to the Javelin. Sales were slumping in the pony car and muscle car markets, due to new emission control standards that affected performance, and high insurance costs gripping the performance car arena. The base model was nixed, and the SST was the standard model. The AMX was still available, but the standard engine option on the AMX was dropped to the 304 two barrel. New steel rally wheels replaced the Rebel Machine wheels.

Pierre Cardin Interior
A new option for the 1972 Javelin was the interior designed by French designer Pierre Cardin. This had a black cloth seat with purple, pink, silver, and white colors streaming over the front and back seats, headrest, and the door panels.
